Bouchier
The Bouchier Group is one of Alberta's largest Indigenous-owned companies, a privately held, 100% Indigenous-owned provider of civil contracting, facility services, and logistics based in Fort McKay, in the heart of the Athabasca oil sands region north of Fort McMurray. Founded in 1998 by David Bouchier, a member and councillor of the Fort McKay First Nation, and his wife Nicole Bourque-Bouchier, a member of the Mikisew Cree First Nation, the company grew from a single second-hand bulldozer into a major oil sands contractor employing well over a thousand people across several major oil sands sites. Bouchier provides a wide range of site services, including road maintenance and construction, earthworks and civil contracting, facility management and maintenance, snow removal, excavation, reclamation, and logistics, supporting resource development across northern Alberta. A large share of its workforce is Indigenous, and the company has built its operations around long-term partnerships with major oil sands producers while investing in the surrounding communities.
