Bouchier, a leading Indigenous-owned integrated site services company based in Fort McKay, Alberta, is now hiring for multiple skilled trade and operator positions at the CNRL Horizon oil sands site. These full-time opportunities are camp-based and operate on 7/7 or 14/14 fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) rotations, with accommodations and flights potentially provided. Positions are available in camp maintenance, firewater systems, and pressure & vac operations.

Open positions include:

  1. Dual Ticketed Journeyman Plumber – Firewater Division
    Responsible for firewater system maintenance and underground installations. Requires dual journeyman certification and experience with water-based fire protection systems.
  2. Pressure & Vac Operators – Class 1 or 3
    Operate hydro-vac and combo units across the CNRL Horizon site. Requires a clean Class 3 or Class 1 license and valid safety certifications.
  3. Journeyman Electrician – Camp Maintenance
    Handle installations and repairs of electrical systems across camp infrastructure. Requires Alberta journeyman certification and strong troubleshooting skills.
  4. Journeyman Plumber/Gasfitter – Camp Projects
    Install and test natural gas systems for camp facilities. Must hold both plumbing and gasfitting certifications and be experienced in blueprint reading and DR11 poly pipe.

Work Rotation

7 on / 7 off and 14 on / 14 off

Horizon Oil Sands Project

The Horizon Oil Sands Project, located approximately 70 kilometers north of Fort McMurray in Alberta, Canada, is a significant oil sands mining and upgrading operation owned and operated by Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL). The project encompasses surface mining of bitumen, extraction, and on-site upgrading to produce high-quality synthetic crude oil (SCO). Since its inception, Horizon has undergone several expansions to enhance production capacity and operational efficiency. As of 2024, the mine produces approximately 250,000 barrels per day of SCO, with plans to increase capacity by an additional 195,000 barrels per day. The project is a key contributor to Albertas energy sector and plays an important role in Canadas oil production.
