Responsibilities
Operators will safely operate various vac and hydro-vac equipment at the CNRL Horizon site and support team and site safety.
- Operate water, vac, hydro-vac, and combo units
- Perform pre/post trip inspections and routine maintenance
- Mentor riggers and support skill development
- Complete hazard assessments and maintain safety compliance
- Ensure all equipment is functional
- Communicate with site personnel and clients
- Prepare and supply unit with necessary gear
- Work outdoors in all conditions
Requirements
Candidates must have a valid Class 3 or Class 1 driver's license and relevant safety certifications.
- Minimum 2 years operating experience
- Clean Class 3 driver's license (Class 1 preferred)
- Valid safety tickets: First Aid, CPR/AED, H2S Alive, CSTS-09, CSO, Fall Protection, AWP, Confined Space, Ground Disturbance Level 2
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Ability to pass drug/alcohol test and health assessment
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks
- Strong communication and teamwork skills

Horizon Oil Sands Project
The Horizon Oil Sands Project, located approximately 70 kilometers north of Fort McMurray in Alberta, Canada, is a significant oil sands mining and upgrading operation owned and operated by Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL). The project encompasses surface mining of bitumen, extraction, and on-site upgrading to produce high-quality synthetic crude oil (SCO). Since its inception, Horizon has undergone several expansions to enhance production capacity and operational efficiency. As of 2024, the mine produces approximately 250,000 barrels per day of SCO, with plans to increase capacity by an additional 195,000 barrels per day.
