Snap Lake Diamond Mine
Support care and maintenance efforts at a key northern diamond mine with roles in maintenance, monitoring, and site security.

Canada's first underground diamond mine, now under care and maintenance.
The Snap Lake Diamond Mine, located in Canada's Northwest Territories, was De Beers' first diamond mine outside Africa and the first to be entirely underground. Operations commenced in 2008, focusing on extracting diamonds from a unique kimberlite dyke. However, due to challenging geological conditions and economic factors, De Beers placed the mine on care and maintenance in 2015 and subsequently announced its closure in 2017. The company has since been engaged in the responsible decommissioning and reclamation of the site, adhering to environmental standards and commitments to local communities.
