New Afton Mine is a copper and gold mining operation in British Columbia.
Situated 10 kilometers west of Kamloops in British Columbia, the New Afton Mine is an underground gold-copper operation utilizing the block caving method. As Canada's only operating block cave mine, it processes approximately 15,000 tonnes of ore per day. In 2024, New Gold Inc. announced the completion of significant production milestones at New Afton, including the achievement of commercial production at the C-Zone and the extraction of the first ore from the Rainy River underground mine. These developments are expected to enhance the mine's production profile and extend its operational life, reinforcing its importance in the Canadian mining sector.
