Located near Kamloops in British Columbia, New Afton Mine is a major copper-gold mining operation that leverages advanced block caving techniques to extract large, economically valuable ore bodies. As a significant contributor to the global metals market, the mine is preparing to enhance its production capabilities with the ongoing development of the C-Zone, expected to significantly boost output in 2024 and extend the mine's operational life.
Underground Miners
As an Underground Miner at New Afton Mine, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of various underground heavy equipment, including long hole drills, shotcrete equipment, scoop trams, and haul trucks. Your responsibilities will also include mentoring and sharing knowledge with other team members, as well as completing various labor tasks to support production targets.
Candidates must possess a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent and have a minimum of 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in the mining industry or industrial construction. Mechanical aptitude, a valid driver's license, and access to personal transportation are required, along with eligibility to work in Canada.
Mobile Maintenance Lubrication Technician
The Mobile Maintenance Lubrication Technician role involves the upkeep of underground mobile mining equipment, including lubrication, light repairs, troubleshooting, and maintenance. This position requires working in an underground environment, operating lubricant transport vehicles, and organizing lube routes. Effective communication with Maintenance and Operations personnel is essential, as is monitoring equipment condition and reporting to the Supervisor.
Applicants must hold a Red Seal endorsed trades certificate in a discipline related to mobile equipment maintenance, such as Automotive Mechanic or Truck and Transport Mechanic, and have a strong interest and experience in heavy equipment maintenance. Industrial experience in the mining sector is preferred.
