The Diavik Diamond Mine, situated approximately 300 kilometers northeast of Yellowknife in Canada's Northwest Territories, is renowned as one of the world's most prolific diamond mines. Operational since 2003, the mine is a joint venture between Rio Tinto (60%) and Dominion Diamond Mines (40%). Diavik comprises four kimberlite pipes, with mining conducted through both open-pit and underground methods. The mine has produced over 100 million carats of diamonds to date. In 2020, Rio Tinto became the sole owner of Diavik after acquiring Dominion's share.
