Diavik Diamond Mine
The Diavik Diamond Mine is located in the remote subarctic region of Canada's Northwest Territories, approximately 300 kilometers northeast of Yellowknife and 220 kilometers south of the Arctic Circle. Operated by Diavik Diamond Mines Inc., a subsidiary of Rio Tinto, this mine is situated on a small island in Lac de Gras. Since commencing operations in 2003, Diavik has become one of the world's foremost diamond mines, producing over 100 million carats of diamonds to date.
Diavik is renowned for its high-quality gem diamonds and employs around 1,000 workers, many of whom commute to the site via fly-in, fly-out arrangements due to its remote location. The mine features extensive infrastructure, including processing plants, maintenance shops, and accommodation facilities for employees. It operates year-round, overcoming significant logistical challenges posed by the harsh climate and remote location. The mine is expected to continue operations until 2025, after which the site will undergo a reclamation process to restore the environment.
Established in 1993, Nuna Logistics is a leading provider of heavy civil construction, earthworks, and infrastructure development services in Canada. Nuna has built a reputation for delivering high-quality projects in remote and challenging environments, particularly in Northern Canada.
