The Suncor Base Mine Extension Project aims to ensure a stable supply of bitumen to the Base Plant facilities once the current mining resources are depleted. The project involves open-pit mining operations, supplying oil sands to new bitumen froth production facilities. Bitumen froth is then transported via pipeline to existing Suncor Base Plant facilities for further processing and upgrading into various product blends. With an estimated 25-year operational life, the project is set to produce up to 225,000 barrels per day of bitumen froth.
