Agnico Eagle is hiring Underground Scoop Operators for the Meliadine Mine, a remote fly-in/fly-out mining operation in Canada. This 14 days on / 14 days off rotational underground mining role supports production activities by operating 8-yard and 11-yard scoops, including equipment used with remote controls and tele-remote camera systems in production stopes. The position also includes equipment inspections, workplace scaling, and support for other production equipment as required. The role includes camp accommodations, onsite meals, charter flights to and from site, and additional travel support based on the employee’s location of residence in Canada.

Responsibilities
The Underground Scoop Operator supports underground production at Meliadine by operating large scoops in production stopes, completing inspections, and maintaining safe working conditions in the mine.
- Operate 8-yard and 11-yard scoops in underground production stopes.
- Operate scoops with and without remote controls and tele-remote camera systems.
- Perform daily equipment inspections before and during operation.
- Inspect the working environment by scaling rocks to maintain safe ground conditions.
- Ensure health and safety requirements are met at all times during underground work.
- Operate other equipment associated with underground production as required.
- Obtain certification on additional production-related equipment as required.
Requirements
Candidates for this fly-in/fly-out underground scoop operator role should have extensive scoop experience, underground mining training, and the ability to operate remote and tele-remote systems in production stopes.
- High School Diploma.
- NAC certification or diploma in mineral extraction, or equivalent.
- Proven experience operating 8-yard and 11-yard scoops and larger.
- Minimum 4000 hours of scoop operating experience.
- Proven experience with remote controls and tele-remote systems with camera in production stopes.
- Mining Modules, Common Core, or equivalent underground training.
- Mining engineering plan reading skills.
- Valid approval letter under the explosives regulations or equivalent, such as an explosives permit.
- Ability to work in English, the official working language at Meliadine.
