IAMGOLD is hiring Mine Equipment Operators for the Côté Gold Mine in Ontario, one of Canada’s largest and more technologically advanced gold mining operations. This mining role supports safe and reliable production by operating and maintaining assigned mine equipment, helping execute the integrated mine plan, and working collaboratively with site teams to meet shift and production targets. IAMGOLD is specifically seeking operators qualified on equipment and pit services such as the Cat 6060 Electric Shovel, Cat 18M Grader, Cat 395 and Cat 6015 Excavators, pit services including cable handling, pit dewatering, and road maintenance, and the CAT 777 Sand and Water Truck. The position offers an annual salary range of $70,800 to $106,200, plus bonus and a comprehensive benefits and retirement package.

Responsibilities

The Mine Equipment Operators support safe and efficient mining operations at Côté Gold by operating assigned mobile equipment, completing basic maintenance, maintaining accurate logs, and working with site teams to achieve production goals.

  • Operate assigned mine equipment safely and reliably in accordance with company health and safety standards.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubricating, and completing regular safety checks on equipment.
  • Ensure equipment is properly positioned before starting, stopping, loading, or unloading.
  • Keep the interior and exterior of equipment clean, safe, and free of hazards.
  • Identify equipment faults and troubleshoot issues as required.
  • Support continuous learning, skill development, and ongoing improvement as an equipment operator and maintainer.
  • Recognize inefficiencies, risks, and operational issues and communicate them to the team.
  • Use and support the MineStar high-precision GPS system to improve autonomous haulage and drilling efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively with others to troubleshoot and resolve operating problems.
  • Consider operational risk across throughput, time, quality, sustainability, and cost.
  • Coordinate with team members on site to meet shift deliverables and production commitments.
  • Mentor and train new team members.
  • Participate actively and provide equipment expertise to the team.
  • Maintain accurate and complete equipment logs and shift logs.
  • Communicate deficiencies to the appropriate team members for follow-up.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams supporting commitments to employees, communities, the environment, and shareholders.

Requirements

Candidates for these mine equipment operator roles should have basic education, valid licensing, heavy equipment operating experience, and the ability to work safely in a modern mine environment using large production equipment and pit service systems.

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Minimum 6 months of heavy equipment operation experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Equipment maintenance experience (considered an asset).
  • Heavy equipment operator training (considered an asset).
  • Fully qualified experience on one or more of the specified equipment and services is strongly relevant, including Cat 6060 Electric Shovel, Cat 18M Grader, Cat 395 Excavator, Cat 6015 Excavator, pit services such as cable handling, pit dewatering and road maintenance, and CAT 777 Sand and Water Truck.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, communicate clearly, and contribute to safe, efficient mining operations.

Côté Gold Mine is a state-of-the-art open-pit gold mining operation located near Gogama in northeastern Ontario, Canada.
