The Mill Operations Labourer plays a vital supporting role in the efficient and safe functioning of the mill plant. Key responsibilities include:
- Perform work safely and efficiently to maintain mill plant operations.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of the mill work area.
- Assist with minor maintenance on crusher circuit, including changing screens, rollers, and conveyors.
- Operate crushing circuit to meet mill feed requirements as needed.
- Support mill operators and maintenance personnel with daily tasks.
- Cover holidays for Mill Operators when required.
- Work collaboratively with Operations and Maintenance teams.
- Report maintenance concerns to Mill Lead Hand promptly.
- Perform mechanical tasks requiring aptitude and flexibility.
Requirements
The ideal candidate for the Mill Operations Labourer position should meet the following qualifications and skills:
- Completed Grade 12 or equivalent education.
- 1 to 3 years of mining industry experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and interest in maintenance tasks.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform occasional heavy work.
- Good communication skills to understand instructions and report concerns effectively.
- Flexibility to crouch, bend, and work around moving mechanical parts safely.
- Ability to operate electrical and air power tools.
- Ability to work under conditions involving high noise and dust levels.
- Visual acuity for reading gauges and monitoring equipment.
- A positive, proactive attitude towards safety and teamwork.
