Responsibilities
The Metallurgist is responsible for leading metallurgical operations to optimize mill performance and gold production at Côté Gold.
- Participate in mill process metallurgy activities including sampling, testing, circuit performance, and metallurgical accounting.
- Coordinate inputs from geology, mining, mill operations, maintenance, and laboratory teams.
- Prepare production reports and support end-of-month reconciliations.
- Manage vendors, consultants, and contractors.
- Support operator circuit checks and measure key milling parameters.
- Analyze metallurgical and process data to align with objectives.
- Oversee sampling and recovery data for process adjustments.
- Evaluate and recommend efficient, safe, and environmentally sound methods.
- Troubleshoot circuit performance, optimize reagent usage, and reduce costs.
- Ensure proper operation of online analyzers and samplers.
- Identify and mitigate workplace safety and environmental hazards.
- Implement best practices and innovative process metallurgy methods.
- Conduct research, benchmarking, and continuous technical development.

Requirements
Applicants should hold a relevant post-secondary degree and demonstrate strong technical, analytical, and leadership skills.
- Post-secondary degree in metallurgical engineering, chemical engineering, or related field.
- Registration as an Engineer in Ontario (PEO) is an asset.
- Minimum 1 year related work experience; upcoming graduates encouraged to apply.
- Strong knowledge of mill throughput and recovery optimization.
- Previous gold processing plant experience is an asset.
- Proficiency with computer applications and metallurgical software.

Côté Gold Mine
Côté Gold Mine is a state-of-the-art open-pit gold mining operation located near Gogama in northeastern Ontario, Canada. Jointly owned by IAMGOLD Corporation (60.3%) and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. (39.7%), the mine achieved its first gold pour and commenced commercial production in 2024 . With an anticipated mine life of approximately 18 years, Côté Gold is poised to become one of Canada's largest gold producers. The mine boasts proven and probable reserves of 234.6 million tonnes grading 1.01 g/t gold, containing 7.6 million ounces of gold. Including the adjacent Gosselin deposit, the combined measured and indicated resources total 16.5 million ounces, with an additional 4.2 million ounces in inferred resources. Côté Gold is notable for its adoption of advanced technologies, including autonomous haul trucks and drills, enhancing operational efficiency and safety . The project is situated on Treaty 9 territory, encompassing the traditional lands of the Mattagami First Nation and Flying Post First Nation, and within the traditional harvesting area of the Métis Nation of Ontario, Region 3.
