Nemaska Lithium is hiring a Health and Safety Advisor at its transformation plant in Bécancour, Quebec. Reporting to the Health and Safety Supervisor, the Advisor will develop and implement occupational health and safety (OHS) programs, conduct risk assessments, deliver training, ensure regulatory compliance, and actively promote a culture of health, safety, ethics, diversity, and inclusion. Responsibilities

The Health and Safety Advisor promotes and implements best practices in occupational health and safety within the plant environment.

  • Develop, deploy, and maintain plant-specific health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Design and deliver OHS training for employees, managers, and subcontractors.
  • Conduct risk assessments and propose preventive measures.
  • Perform inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Collaborate with departments to integrate OHS principles.
  • Stay informed on OHS laws and ensure regulatory compliance.

Requirements

Candidate must have relevant education, experience, and skills to ensure effective health and safety management.

  • Degree in health and safety, risk management, or related field.
  • 3-5 years experience in a similar role, preferably in industrial or manufacturing settings.
  • Experience in chemical or manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Quebec OHS laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to analyze situations and propose practical solutions.

Whabouchi Mine

The Whabouchi Mine, located near Nemiscau in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region of northern Québec, is one of the richest high-purity lithium spodumene deposits in North America. Owned and operated by Nemaska Lithium, the mine forms a key part of a vertically integrated operation, with raw spodumene from the site destined for conversion into battery-grade lithium hydroxide at the company’s processing facility in Bécancour, Québec. As of 2025, the Whabouchi site is in the construction phase, with full production planned to coincide with the completion of the Bécancour plant. The project has secured all major environmental and regulatory approvals, including those under the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and federal environmental legislation. Nemaska Lithium is expected to hire for a wide range of positions as the project advances.
