Long-term employment opportunities in lithium mining and processing in northern Québec.

The Whabouchi Mine, located near Nemiscau in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region of northern Québec, is one of the richest high-purity lithium spodumene deposits in North America. Owned and operated by Nemaska Lithium, the mine forms a key part of a vertically integrated operation, with raw spodumene from the site destined for conversion into battery-grade lithium hydroxide at the company’s processing facility in Bécancour, Québec. As of 2025, the Whabouchi site is in the construction phase, with full production planned to coincide with the completion of the Bécancour plant. The project has secured all major environmental and regulatory approvals, including those under the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and federal environmental legislation. Nemaska Lithium is expected to hire for a wide range of positions as the project advances. Future opportunities are anticipated in operations, trades, production, environmental monitoring, site administration, and support services.
