This full-time local role offers a 7/7 rotation with day, night, or rotating shifts. Responsibilities
The Equipment Operator safely operates and maintains heavy equipment at Suncor Base Plant, supporting site operations.
- Operate assigned equipment including excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, water trucks, snow plows, etc.
- Perform pre-operational checks and document findings
- Grease and maintain cleanliness and safety of equipment
- Report equipment repairs to maintenance and supervision
- Maintain cooperative relationships with customers and employees
- Participate in Job Hazard Assessments, Field Level Risk Assessments, and safety meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned by Site Superintendent
Requirements
Applicants must have relevant heavy equipment experience, licenses, and certifications.
- 2-5 years heavy equipment operating experience with GPS systems
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License required (Class 1 or 3 an asset)
- Ability to lift and pull up to 50 lbs
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions and shift work
- Safety conscious attitude
- Common Safety Orientation (CSO) certificate
- WHMIS 2015 certification
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification
- OSSA Confined Space Entry and Monitor
- Ground Disturbance certification
- First Aid certification
- H2S Alive certification
- Ability to pass Drug & Alcohol and Fit for Duty tests
- Fluent English speaking, reading, and writing
