Drill Operator - Côté Gold Mine - Rotation Based Work Schedule

IAMGOLD is hiring a D65 Drill Operator to join its team at the Côté Gold Mine near Gogama, Ontario. This open-pit operation is a joint venture with Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd., developed in partnership with local First Nations. The D65 Drill Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating drill equipment and performing routine maintenance. Working in a collaborative team, the role supports the execution of the integrated mine plan while contributing to operational reliability and continuous improvement. Camp accommodations are provided.

Responsibilities

The D65 Drill Operator ensures safe, effective equipment operation and supports production efficiency.

  • Operate drill equipment according to safety standards and site protocols.
  • Perform equipment checks, cleaning, lubrication, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure safe positioning and clean work environments for all equipment.
  • Utilize MineStar GPS systems for precision and autonomous integration.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and support problem resolution.
  • Collaborate with crew members and contribute to team goals.
  • Maintain accurate logs and report equipment issues or deficiencies.
  • Train and mentor new operators as required.

Requirements

Candidates should have experience with heavy equipment and a commitment to safety and learning.

  • Grade 12 or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 6 months of heavy equipment operation experience.
  • Equipment maintenance experience is an asset.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Heavy equipment operator training considered an asset.
  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
  • Willingness to learn and contribute to continuous improvement.

Côté Gold Mine

Côté Gold Mine is a state-of-the-art open-pit gold mining operation located near Gogama in northeastern Ontario, Canada. Jointly owned by IAMGOLD Corporation (60.3%) and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. (39.7%), the mine achieved its first gold pour and commenced commercial production in 2024 . With an anticipated mine life of approximately 18 years, Côté Gold is poised to become one of Canada's largest gold producers. The mine boasts proven and probable reserves of 234.6 million tonnes grading 1.01 g/t gold, containing 7.6 million ounces of gold. Including the adjacent Gosselin deposit, the combined measured and indicated resources total 16.5 million ounces, with an additional 4.2 million ounces in inferred resources. Côté Gold is notable for its adoption of advanced technologies, including autonomous haul trucks and drills, enhancing operational efficiency and safety . The project is situated on Treaty 9 territory, encompassing the traditional lands of the Mattagami First Nation and Flying Post First Nation, and within the traditional harvesting area of the Métis Nation of Ontario, Region 3.
