Construction Miner - Meliadine Gold Mine - 14x14 FIFO Nunavut

Agnico Eagle is hiring Construction Miners for the Meliadine Mine, a remote fly-in/fly-out mining operation in Canada. This 14 days on / 14 days off rotational role supports underground mine construction by installing paste line infrastructure, building and repairing underground structures, reading mine and construction plans, pouring concrete, completing rehabilitation work, and operating specialized underground construction and mining equipment. The position includes camp accommodations, onsite meals, charter flights to and from site, and additional travel support based on the employee’s location of residence in Canada.

Responsibilities

The Construction Miner supports underground mine development and infrastructure work at Meliadine by building, installing, repairing, and rehabilitating underground structures and systems while operating specialized construction and mining equipment.

  • Install paste line infrastructure in the underground mine.
  • Read and interpret prints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate job requirements.
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems such as bulkheads.
  • Fit and install trim items including doors, stairs, moulding, and hardware.
  • Work in compliance with federal and provincial building codes, regulatory requirements, and safety legislation.
  • Operate construction and mining equipment such as jackleg, stoper, shotcrete machine, zoom boom, scissor lift, and welder.
  • Build formwork according to prints and pour concrete.
  • Strip wood and steel during rehabilitation work.
  • Prepare and maintain records for construction materials.
  • Complete work orders and assigned underground construction tasks.

Requirements

Candidates for this fly-in/fly-out underground construction mining role should have proven underground construction experience, strong plan-reading ability, and relevant certifications for mining and explosives-related work.

  • High School Diploma.
  • Experience in an industrial welding environment with working knowledge of manuals and schematics.
  • Minimum 2 years of proven underground construction experience.
  • WBC Certification is considered an asset.
  • Inter-Provincial (Red Seal) Certification and High Pressure Certification are considered assets.
  • NAC Certification or DEP in Mineral Extraction, or equivalent.
  • Underground Certification or equivalent, such as Mining Modules and Common Core, is considered an asset.
  • Mine Engineering plan reading skills.
  • Valid approval letter under the explosives regulations or equivalent, such as an explosive permit.
  • Ability to work in English, the official working language at Meliadine.
