Nasittuq Corporation is hiring a Chef to support its remote Long Range Radar Sites in Cambridge Bay and Shepard Bay, Nunavut. Working a 6x6 rotational schedule, the Chef will plan, prepare, and serve daily meals for site staff and visitors in a remote Arctic kitchen environment. This permanent, unionized role involves menu planning, baking from scratch, inventory management, and catering to dietary needs, including allergies. The position includes fly-in/fly-out travel, private accommodations, all meals provided, a full benefits package, overtime pay, Arctic clothing, and professional development support.

Responsibilities

The Chef will manage all aspects of food preparation and kitchen operations at remote radar sites in the Canadian Arctic.

  • Plan and prepare three daily meals (buffet breakfast, lunch, dinner) using a rotating cycle menu
  • Prepare baked goods and desserts from scratch
  • Develop custom dishes for individuals with allergies or dietary restrictions
  • Maintain food safety, sanitation, and proper labeling practices
  • Participate in meal/menu planning and kitchen cleaning duties
  • Travel to support adjacent remote sites as needed
  • Maintain inventory and order supplies as required

Requirements

Applicants must have culinary certification, Arctic-readiness, and strong team and communication skills.

  • Interprovincial Journeyman status or equivalent experience
  • Safe Food Handling and WHMIS certifications
  • Valid driver's license
  • Experience in hotels, cafeterias, or restaurants
  • Inventory and ordering experience required
  • Excellent planning, multitasking, and conflict resolution skills
  • Comfortable lifting 50 lbs and working in cold, remote conditions
  • Ability to wear PPE and travel as needed
  • Culinary Diploma or Red Seal preferred
  • Remote camp or rotational work experience an asset
