Chef - North Warning System - 6 Weeks On / 6 Weeks Off - FIFO

Nasittuq Corporation is hiring a Red Seal Chef for remote radar sites across Nunavut, including locations in Cambridge Bay, Shepard Bay, Sanirajak, and Dewar Lakes. This camp-based position includes a 6-week on, 6-week off rotation with all travel costs and up to 2 paid travel days covered. Private accommodations with meals, Wi-Fi, laundry, and recreational amenities are provided. Overtime is paid at 1.5x the base rate. Additional benefits include Arctic gear, safety footwear allowance, and a northern living allowance for certain regions.

Responsibilities

The Chef is responsible for delivering high-quality food service in a remote camp setting while ensuring safety and hygiene compliance:

  • Plan, prepare, and serve meals per approved cycle menus
  • Manage inventory, food storage, and cost control
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and food safety standards
  • Inspect and maintain food prep and storage equipment
  • Support emergency response and provide first aid if needed
  • Travel to various radar sites as required
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the supervisor or manager

Requirements

Candidates must have the necessary certifications and experience for remote camp culinary work:

  • Red Seal or Interprovincial Journeyman Chef certification
  • Safe Food Handling Certification
  • Valid driver's license
  • 5+ years experience as a chef in hotel, cafeteria, or restaurant settings
  • Previous camp experience considered an asset
  • Strong planning, time management, and food safety skills
  • Ability to work cross-culturally and in isolated environments
  • Willingness to travel and work in challenging weather conditions
