IAMGOLD is hiring a Cook for a three-month contract at the Côté Gold Mine exploration site near Gogama, Ontario. This remote site is part of a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining, operated in collaboration with local First Nations communities. The role involves preparing meals in a high-volume kitchen, maintaining safety and hygiene standards, and managing kitchen inventory and planning. Camp accommodations are provided, and the rotation schedule is 7 days on and 7 days off, with 10-hour workdays.

Responsibilities

The Cook is responsible for preparing quality meals and maintaining kitchen operations at the exploration site.

  • Plan and prepare all food production including hot lunches, dinners, and continental breakfasts.
  • Manage food inventory, grocery orders, and ensure proper quantity and quality.
  • Maintain cleanliness and regulatory compliance of facilities and equipment.
  • Perform meal prep, delivery, cleanup, and storage.
  • Plan menus and record production and operational data.
  • Estimate and requisition food, supplies, and kitchen materials.
  • Ensure high safety and food quality standards at all times.

Requirements

Applicants should have strong culinary experience and organizational skills for remote camp environments.

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in a high-volume food setting.
  • Ability to manage food preparation independently for a camp setting.
  • Strong problem-solving and planning abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
