Responsibilities
As a Building Mechanic at Nemaska Lithium, your primary responsibility will be ensuring optimal building functionality and compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems.
- Respond to emergency building issues and perform timely repairs.
- Document work orders accurately using maintenance software.
- Manage parts orders and equipment inventory proactively.
- Adhere to safety policies, procedures, and regulations at all times.
- Support the mobile maintenance and refrigeration teams.
- Carry out additional duties as needed based on team priorities.
Requirements
Candidates must meet the following qualifications to be considered for this position:
- Diploma in electromechanics, industrial mechanics, or building mechanics certificate.
- ASP construction certification.
- Training in aerial lift and forklift operations.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Experience in heavy industry preferred.
- Availability for 12-hour shifts on a 14/14 FIFO rotation.

The Whabouchi Mine, located near Nemiscau in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region of northern Québec, is one of the richest high-purity lithium spodumene deposits in North America. Owned and operated by Nemaska Lithium, the mine forms a key part of a vertically integrated operation, with raw spodumene from the site destined for conversion into battery-grade lithium hydroxide at the company’s processing facility in Bécancour, Québec. As of 2025, the Whabouchi site is in the construction phase, with full production planned to coincide with the completion of the Bécancour plant. The project has secured all major environmental and regulatory approvals, including those under the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and federal environmental legislation.
