Responsibilities
The Building Mechanic ensures safe and efficient building operations at the Whabouchi Mine through HVAC and facility maintenance.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facilities.
- Respond to emergency building issues as required.
- Document work orders using appropriate software tools.
- Order parts and manage inventory of maintenance supplies.
- Apply company policies and safety regulations across all tasks.
- Support mobile maintenance and refrigeration teams as needed.
- Perform other tasks based on operational priorities.
Requirements
Successful candidates will have relevant technical training and certifications for industrial or building mechanics.
- Diploma in electromechanics, industrial or building mechanics, or equivalent.
- ASP construction card.
- Aerial lift and forklift certifications.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Experience in heavy industry preferred.
- Available for 12-hour shifts on a 14/14 FIFO schedule.

The Whabouchi Mine, located near Nemiscau in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region of northern Québec, is one of the richest high-purity lithium spodumene deposits in North America. Owned and operated by Nemaska Lithium, the mine forms a key part of a vertically integrated operation, with raw spodumene from the site destined for conversion into battery-grade lithium hydroxide at the company’s processing facility in Bécancour, Québec. As of 2025, the Whabouchi site is in the construction phase, with full production planned to coincide with the completion of the Bécancour plant. The project has secured all major environmental and regulatory approvals, including those under the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and federal environmental legislation.
