SSR Mining Inc., a leading intermediate gold company, is recruiting a Blaster for their Seabee Gold Operation in northern Saskatchewan, Canada. This remote gold-producing site is approximately 500km northeast of Saskatoon and offers a fly-in fly-out schedule with camp accommodations. The Blaster role involves loading explosives in blast holes by hand, preparing blast faces, connecting detonating cords, and supporting mine operations in a safe and efficient manner. The position operates on a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off rotation. Responsibilities
The Blaster is responsible for the safe and effective handling and loading of explosives to support mine blasting operations. Key duties include:
- Create and maintain a strong safety culture and promote company safety policies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed shift records related to blasting activities.
- Perform housekeeping duties in the work area to ensure safety.
- Conduct Field Level Risk Assessments before operations.
- Complete pre-operation inspections on all equipment.
- Properly place barricades to delineate blast sites for safety.
- Operate equipment safely within drill and blast patterns.
- Coordinate with supervisors to support mine operational needs efficiently.
Requirements
Ideal candidates will meet the following qualifications and skills:
- Completed Grade 12 or equivalent education.
- 2-3 years blasting experience in an underground hard rock mine.
- Experience with blast design software/programs.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
- Physical ability to lift 30-50 lbs.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions carefully.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Positive and proactive attitude toward safety.
