Thyssen Mining Construction of Canada Ltd. (TMCC) is a full-service underground mining and construction contractor headquartered in Regina, Saskatchewan, and a member of the worldwide Thyssen Schachtbau group of companies, a subsidiary of Thyssen Schachtbau International B.V. The company specializes in shaft sinking, mine development, contract mining, raise boring, lateral development and tunnelling, ground freezing and grouting, and engineering and design services for the mining and civil industries across North America. Thyssen Mining's shaft-sinking and ground-freezing expertise traces back to its German parent, which sank its first shaft in the 1870s and pioneered ground-freezing techniques in the early 1900s, and the Canadian operation was established in the 1960s when that expertise was brought to Saskatchewan to serve the province's potash industry, sinking shafts through water-bearing geological formations. From its Saskatchewan base, Thyssen Mining has grown into one of North America's leading underground development contractors, working on potash, uranium, and hard-rock mining projects — including through Indigenous joint ventures such as Mudjatik Thyssen Mining, which has provided underground development at uranium operations in northern Saskatchewan.
