Natural gas power facility enhancing energy capacity in Saskatchewan.
The Ermine Power Station, situated near Kerrobert, Saskatchewan, is a natural gas-fired facility owned and operated by SaskPower. Commissioned in 2009, the station has an initial capacity of 90 megawatts. In 2022, SaskPower announced plans to expand the facility by adding a third simple cycle gas turbine, expected to generate an additional 46 megawatts, sufficient to power approximately 46,000 homes. This expansion aims to enhance the reliability and capacity of Saskatchewan's power grid, with the new unit anticipated to be in service by May 2025.
