Dexterra Group, operating as Horizon North in partnership with Chi Mino Ozhitoowin, is recruiting for multiple camp services roles at the Waasigan Transmission Line Project near Thunder Bay, Ontario. Most positions operate on 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotations with camp accommodations and meals, paid travel from Thunder Bay, Dryden, and nearby areas, and private rooms with cable TV, Wi-Fi, laundry, and gym access.
- 2nd Cook – $20.91/hr
Supports daily meal prep and service (starches/vegetables), assists with hot breakfast and baking, maintains clean kitchen and serving areas. - Baker – $23.27/hr
Produces scratch and pre-fabricated baked goods for bagged lunch and daily service; completes HACCP logs and maintains bakery standards. - Breakfast Cook – $22.48/hr
Prepares hot breakfast on overnight shifts, manages presentation, inventory, and sanitation in a high-volume remote kitchen. - Camp Manager – $341.70/day (3/3 rotation)
Oversees housekeeping and kitchen operations, staff supervision, scheduling/payroll, client relations, and inventory control. - Chef – $335/day (2/2 rotation)
Leads all kitchen operations, menu planning, team training, and HACCP/FOODSAFE compliance; manages inventory and dietary requirements. - General Helper – $19.10/hr
Maintains sanitation in kitchen/servery/warewash areas, stocks supplies, assists with prep, and handles deliveries and waste. - Housekeeper – $19.10/hr
Cleans dorms/rooms, hallways, and laundry areas; completes linens/turnovers and sanitizes high-touch surfaces. - Janitor – $19.10/hr
Cleans and sanitizes common spaces (gym, rec room, boot room, lobby, offices), restocks washrooms, handles floor care and waste. - Maintenance Technician – $300–$335/day (3/3; may change to 4/2)
Performs facility upkeep and light repairs (lighting, plumbing, HVAC, doors), assists with snow clearing and heavy lifts, and records work. - Salad / Sandwich Maker – $20.91/hr
Prepares high-volume sandwiches for bagged lunch program, maintains presentation standards, rotation, and workstation cleanliness.

Waasigan Transmission Line Project
The Waasigan Transmission Line Project is a major infrastructure initiative led by Hydro One in partnership with nine First Nations communities to strengthen the electricity supply in Northwestern Ontario. This project will add 350 megawatts of clean energy to the region, more than double the power required for the city of Thunder Bay. The transmission line will extend from the Lakehead Transformer Station in Shuniah to the Mackenzie Transformer Station in Atikokan, with a further extension to the Dryden Transformer Station in Dryden. Construction is planned in two phases: the first phase, from Shuniah to Atikokan, is expected to be operational by the end of 2025, while the second phase, from Atikokan to Dryden, is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027.
