Responsibilities
The operator will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining various types of heavy equipment at Fort Hills.
- Operate excavators, dozers, graders, water trucks, loaders, snow plows
- Conduct pre-op checks and log entries
- Ensure equipment cleanliness and safety readiness
- Report required repairs to maintenance
- Participate in safety meetings and assessments
- Perform laborer tasks when required
- Maintain positive working relationships
- Grease and inspect equipment as needed
Requirements
Applicants must be experienced equipment operators with strong safety credentials and physical readiness.
- 2-5 years heavy equipment experience with GPS systems
- Valid Class 5 license (Class 1 or 3 preferred)
- Ability to lift/pull 50 lbs and work in all weather
- Must be able to work day/night shift rotation
- CSO, WHMIS 2015, TDG, OSSA Confined Space, Ground Disturbance, First Aid, H2S Alive
- Pass drug/alcohol and fit-for-duty test
- Fluent in English (spoken, written, read)

The Fort Hills Oil Sands Project is a major open-pit mining operation located in the Athabasca region of northern Alberta, approximately 90 km north of Fort McMurray.
