Barrick Gold Corporation is seeking an Underground Project Coordinator to oversee the execution of underground mining projects at the Williams Mine, part of its Hemlo Operations near Marathon, Ontario. This position ensures project milestones are achieved safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations, from initial approval to operational handover. The Coordinator is responsible for contractor oversight, quality control, cost management, safety compliance, and effective communication across departments. Hemlo has been a key gold producer for over 30 years and includes an underground mine and a 4mtpa processing plant. Responsibilities

The UG Project Coordinator manages all aspects of underground mining projects. Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee UG project execution from approval to handover.
  • Complete project submission documentation for internal approval.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and operational standards.
  • Conduct field inspections to verify quality and production targets.
  • Implement solutions for project execution issues via troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate material and labor use to optimize cost efficiency.
  • Promote and align projects with Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Verify contractor competencies and ensure compliance with site standards.
  • Inspect UG sites for contractor safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate and maintain strong interdepartmental and contractor relations.
  • Communicate goals and corrective actions to project teams.
  • Monitor and enforce MOC (Management of Change) compliance and operational discipline.

Requirements

Qualified applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Mining Engineering degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • PMP designation is an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience (underground preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario mining regulations and statutory obligations.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and execution planning ability.
  • Experience with Deswik/CAD software for design is preferred.
