Hecla Mining Company is hiring All Level Miners for its Keno Hill Mine, located in the renowned Keno Hill Silver District of Yukon Territory, Canada. This high-grade silver operation is accessible via fly-in/fly-out from hubs across Alberta, British Columbia, and Yukon. The mine site offers full camp accommodations and meals, as well as a rotational schedule of 14 days on and 14 days off. Miners will operate various underground equipment including jumbo drills, bolters, scoop trams, and haul trucks, supporting safe and productive mining operations. Compensation ranges from $29.00 to $39.40 per hour, with comprehensive benefits including health coverage, a 6% RRSP matching program, and additional wellness and education supports.

Responsibilities

Underground miners at Keno Hill are responsible for supporting safe and efficient mining operations by operating equipment and executing the mining cycle.

  • Operate underground equipment such as jumbos, bolters, scoop trams, and haul trucks
  • Perform drilling, blasting, loading, mucking, and ground support activities
  • Conduct pre-op checks and basic equipment maintenance
  • Inspect work areas for hazards and safety compliance
  • Place and remove blast guards, follow blasting protocols
  • Support supply logistics and material transport underground
  • Lead by example in promoting safety and team culture
  • Complete daily logs, inspections, and safety reports
  • Promote strong environmental and safety values
  • Mentor and collaborate with team members for continuous improvement

Requirements

Applicants must bring underground mining experience and a strong safety focus to succeed in this role at Keno Hill.

  • Previous underground mining experience preferred
  • Minimum 3 years’ equipment operation for advanced roles
  • Experience with jumbo, bolter, scoop, or haul truck an asset
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Yukon Blasting Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Mine Rescue and Underground Blasting certifications preferred
  • Ability to read mine plans and follow engineering specifications
  • Strong safety mindset and communication skills
  • Compliance with drug, alcohol, and health testing requirements
