The Underground Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for maintaining underground mobile equipment and supporting safe, efficient operations. Duties include:
- Conduct preventative maintenance (PMs) per work order schedules.
- Identify parts and materials required ahead of time for repairs.
- Complete inspection reports, shift logs, and maintenance documentation accurately.
- Analyze root causes of equipment failures and suggest improvements.
- Use CMMS software like SAP to manage and track maintenance work.
- Collaborate with supervisors and planners on maintenance priorities.
- Respond quickly and efficiently to breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain housekeeping standards.
- Assist in mentoring apprentices and junior team members as needed.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications and expectations include:
- Certification as a Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic (Journeyperson preferred).
- Experience with underground mobile mining equipment maintenance.
- Familiarity with maintenance planning tools and CMMS such as SAP.
- Strong understanding of mechanical diagnostics and root cause analysis.
- Ability to complete detailed documentation and reports.
