Initially developed by Imperial Metals, the mine became a joint venture in 2019, with Newcrest Mining Limited acquiring a 70% stake and assuming operational control, while Imperial Metals retained a 30% interest. In 2023, Newcrest was acquired by Newmont Corporation, making Newmont the majority owner and operator of Red Chris.
