Burgundy Diamond Mines is hiring a Team Lead, Surface Mining for its Ekati Diamond Mine in Northwest Territories, Canada. This full-time role follows a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off rotation and is responsible for overseeing surface mining operations, ensuring safety compliance, and optimizing production. The successful candidate will lead the Surface Mining team, support employee development, and work closely with technical services and maintenance teams to meet operational goals. Camp accommodations and flights from Calgary, Yellowknife, and northern locations are provided.

The Team Lead, Surface Mining will oversee surface mining operations and ensure efficient production. Key responsibilities include:
- Provide coaching and mentoring for employee development.
- Assign work and supervise Surface Mining team personnel.
- Enforce safety, health, and environmental management practices.
- Investigate accidents and incidents as needed.
- Meet budgeted mining targets and ensure operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with Technical Services and Mobile Maintenance to execute mining plans.
- Manage cost per ton through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and standard operating procedures.
- Utilize the WENCO fleet monitoring and data collection system.
- Contribute to the development of the mining plan.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have leadership experience in surface mining operations and a strong commitment to safety. Requirements include:
- Minimum 5 years of open pit mining experience.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Open pit shift boss certification.
- Surface mine rescue certification.
- Valid first-aid ticket.
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on coaching and mentoring.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a unionized environment.
