De Beers Group seeks a Senior Shovel Technician for the Mobile Maintenance team at the Gahcho Ku� Mine in Canada on a 14/14 FIFO schedule. The role focuses on preventative maintenance and major repairs for Komatsu PC5500 front-load shovels, PC2000/PC1250 excavators, WA1200 loaders, and additional mobile mining equipment. Camp accommodations include private rooms, full-service dining, Wi-Fi, and extensive fitness facilities. Responsibilities

This position ensures safe, reliable availability of large mining equipment through expert diagnostics, repairs, and collaboration with planning and supervision.

  • Perform preventative maintenance and servicing on Komatsu PC5500 shovel, PC2000/PC1250 excavators, WA1200 loader, and other mobile units.
  • Conduct job risk assessments and develop safe work plans; execute tasks in a controlled, safety-driven manner.
  • Inspect equipment performance, detect faults/malfunctions, and determine scope of mechanical issues.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems; apply a continuous product-improvement mindset.
  • Rebuild components; collaborate with OEMs/manufacturers when required.
  • Complete and return work orders promptly; communicate progress and issues to Supervisors and peers.
  • Provide input to Planners/Schedulers to build effective work packages.
  • Adhere to safety, environmental, confidentiality, and code-of-conduct standards.

Requirements

Candidates bring Red Seal heavy-equipment expertise and advanced OEM system knowledge suitable for remote, open-pit operations.

  • Legally permitted to work in Canada.
  • Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic/Technician.
  • 5-7 years' experience servicing Komatsu and/or other hydraulic shovel equipment.
  • Training/experience with Komatsu electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Training/experience with Cummins engines.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems; strong communication and teamwork.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance systems (Komtrax/SAP).
  • Experience with Pit Viper 271 (asset).
  • Proven commitment to Safety, Health, and Environmental standards.
  • Experience working at remote mine sites and in cross-cultural environments.
