Barminco Canada, a division of the Perenti Group, is hiring a Development Shift Supervisor to lead underground mining crews at Hemlo Operations near Marathon, Ontario. This rotational position (14/14) offers either fly-in/fly-out or drive-in/drive-out options, depending on residency. Reporting to the Mine Foreman, the supervisor is responsible for overseeing production and development crews to ensure safe and efficient execution of the mine plan. The Development Shift Supervisor leads underground mining crews, ensuring safety and efficiency in alignment with mine development targets.
- Supervise day-to-day production and development activities.
- Lead by example in safety and compliance with SOPs.
- Manage all jumbo activities including bolting, screening, and boring.
- Coordinate mucking, drilling, and hauling operations.
- Conduct daily safety interactions and provide mentorship.
- Hand over completed development drifts to production teams.
- Collaborate with other departments to improve conditions and productivity.
- Implement new technologies and work practices.
- Prepare production reports and lead crew line-ups.
Requirements
Candidates must have leadership experience in underground development and be certified in mine supervision.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5-10 years of underground mining experience.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
- Experience in rapid development cycles with jumbo (bolt/mesh/drill).
- Underground Hard Rock Mining Supervisory Common Core.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in cross-cultural environments.
