Responsibilities

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and promoting safety standards and compliance across mining operations.

  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure policy and procedural compliance.
  • Report safety deficiencies and assist management in corrective actions.
  • Manage worker compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
  • Lead incident investigations and communicate recommendations.
  • Ensure implementation and adherence to company policies and safety programs.
  • Maintain qualifications and stay current with industry developments.
  • Communicate accountabilities to subordinates and manage performance.
  • Liaise with other departments and maintain client relations.
  • Adhere to corporate policies including safety, environment, HR, recruitment, payroll.
  • Stay up to date on corporate safety and cybersecurity training.

Requirements

Candidates must have the technical knowledge and certifications required for effective safety coordination in underground mining.

  • Ontario Underground Hardrock Miner Common Core certification.
  • NORCAT Certificate.
  • Previous experience as a Safety Coordinator in mining or construction.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Methodical, detail-oriented work approach.
  • Proficient with operations-specific computer software.
  • Adaptability and team player mindset.
