The Underground Production Miner III supports safe, efficient underground production by operating mobile equipment, completing blasting-related tasks, and maintaining high standards for reporting and housekeeping.
- Operate underground mining equipment safely and efficiently, including scooptrams (6 yd, 8 yd, 10 yd), haul trucks (30t and SLT), and underground light vehicles, in line with site SOPs.
- Complete thorough pre-operational and post-operational inspections; report deficiencies, damage, or safety concerns to the Shift Supervisor.
- Perform pre- and post-blast inspections to verify safe conditions and compliance with blasting procedures.
- Complete ore and waste haulage activities, supporting production and development requirements.
- Recognize changing ground conditions and follow site protocol when poor ground conditions are encountered.
- Muck out development rounds to maintain headings and support advance rates.
- Conduct stope loading, timing, and blasting according to design requirements and site standards.
- Provide accurate and timely reporting of shift activities, production details, and issues to the Shift Supervisor.
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping throughout underground work areas.
- Take direction from Underground Supervisors and collaborate respectfully with supporting teams.
Requirements
Candidates must bring underground production experience, demonstrated equipment competency, and required safety certifications for a rotational FIFO mining environment.
- Minimum 3 years of underground production mining experience with strong proficiency in relevant tasks.
- Demonstrated competency operating scooptrams (6 yd, 8 yd, 10 yd), haul trucks (30t and SLT), and underground light vehicles.
- Experience with Sandvik AutoMine tele-remote system, LHDs, and haul trucks is highly desirable.
- Valid Standard First Aid certificate (required).
- Approval letter from the Explosives Regulatory Division (ERD) considered an asset.
- Ability to follow SOPs, complete inspections, and maintain accurate production and safety reporting.
- Strong safety mindset with the ability to recognize hazards such as poor ground conditions and follow escalation protocols.
