Nasittuq Corporation is seeking a Power Plant Mechanic specializing in diesel generation systems to join their team at CFS Alert in Nunavut, the northernmost permanently inhabited location on Earth. This fly-in, fly-out camp position follows an 8-week on, 8-week off schedule and includes paid travel from anywhere in Canada, private accommodations, and meals. The role involves the operation, maintenance, and repair of Caterpillar diesel engines, generators, and auxiliary power equipment, supporting critical Department of National Defence infrastructure.

Responsibilities
Maintain diesel-based power systems for critical Arctic operations at CFS Alert:
- Operate, maintain, and repair diesel engines, generators, and power equipment
- Conduct shop inspections, preventative maintenance, and test-runs
- Maintain logs and documentation on generator and auxiliary power operations
- Respond to breakdowns and emergency situations
- Perform diagnostics and corrective repairs on Caterpillar co-generator systems
Requirements
Candidates must meet technical and logistical readiness for remote Arctic deployment:
- Certified Diesel Mechanic with specialization in Caterpillar systems
- Minimum 5 years of relevant hands-on experience
- Ability to conduct maintenance on generators, APUs, UPSs, and auxiliary systems
- Eligible for RELIABILITY security clearance and pre-employment medical
- Valid passport for travel through Thule, Greenland
- Cross-cultural sensitivity and strong teamwork skills
