Miner 2 - Keno Hill Silver Mine - FIFO - 14/14 Rotation

Hecla Mining Company is seeking a Miner 2 (Bolter) for its Keno Hill Mine in Elsa, Yukon Territory. This is a fly-in/fly-out position on a 14/14 rotation with camp accommodations and meals provided. The role pays $36.50 per hour and involves underground face preparation, ground support, and blasting duties. Candidates should have 3-5 years of underground experience, a valid Class 5 driver's license, and proficiency in remote mucking systems. Responsibilities

The Miner 2 (Bolter) plays a key role in underground mining operations. Responsibilities include:

  • Inspect and prepare face areas; identify hazards and miss holes
  • Install ground support per the Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP)
  • Perform minor equipment repairs and daily inspections
  • Load and blast development rounds safely using emulsion and detonators
  • Maintain clean workspaces and ensure safe operation of equipment
  • Support full mining cycle: mucking, bolting, drilling, loading, etc.
  • Coach and mentor team members
  • Participate in and promote environmental and safety practices

Requirements

Candidates must meet the following qualifications and safety requirements:

  • 3-5 years of underground mining experience
  • Experience with remote-controlled mucking systems
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Mine Rescue Certification and Underground Blasting Certificate (preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret underground mining plans
  • Proficiency with underground drilling, blasting, and equipment
  • Strong safety mindset and communication skills
  • Pre-employment testing: drug & alcohol, blood lead, audiogram
