Responsibilities
The Miner 2 (Bolter) plays a key role in underground mining operations. Responsibilities include:
- Inspect and prepare face areas; identify hazards and miss holes
- Install ground support per the Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP)
- Perform minor equipment repairs and daily inspections
- Load and blast development rounds safely using emulsion and detonators
- Maintain clean workspaces and ensure safe operation of equipment
- Support full mining cycle: mucking, bolting, drilling, loading, etc.
- Coach and mentor team members
- Participate in and promote environmental and safety practices
Requirements
Candidates must meet the following qualifications and safety requirements:
- 3-5 years of underground mining experience
- Experience with remote-controlled mucking systems
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
- Mine Rescue Certification and Underground Blasting Certificate (preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret underground mining plans
- Proficiency with underground drilling, blasting, and equipment
- Strong safety mindset and communication skills
- Pre-employment testing: drug & alcohol, blood lead, audiogram
