Hecla Mining Company is hiring a Miner 1 (Jumbo Operator) for its high-grade Keno Hill Mine in Elsa, Yukon Territory. This fly-in/fly-out role operates on a 14/14 rotational schedule with full camp accommodations and meals provided. Paying $39.40 per hour, the position focuses on safe and efficient jumbo drill operations, blasting, scaling, and ground support. Candidates should have at least 3 years of jumbo drilling experience in hard rock mining. Responsibilities

The Miner 1 will operate jumbo drills and perform a range of tasks essential to underground development. Responsibilities include:

  • Operate jumbo drills safely and efficiently for development drilling
  • Prepare headings by scaling, inspecting, and installing ground support
  • Drill, load, and blast in accordance with engineered plans
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor equipment repairs
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Complete daily shift reports and communicate progress
  • Support full mining cycle including mucking, bolting, loading, etc.
  • Mentor crew members and promote a strong safety culture

Requirements

Candidates must meet the following qualifications and safety standards:

  • Minimum 3 years operating jumbo drills in underground hard rock mining
  • Proficient in reading mine plans and drilling specifications
  • Eligible for a Blasting Certificate
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and clean abstract
  • Criminal record check and pre-employment testing required
  • Mine Rescue Certification is an asset
  • Strong communication and adherence to safety procedures
