As a key member of the Mineral Resource Management team, the successful candidate will support geological sampling, mapping, core logging, and stope inspections in an underground mining environment. This role reports to the Senior Geology Specialist and collaborates closely with geologists, engineers, drillers, and operational staff to ensure accurate ore control and timely geological data for production. The Hemlo site includes the Williams underground mine and a 4mtpa gold processing facility with over 30 years of continuous operation. Responsibilities
The Mine Geologist will support production by conducting underground geological work and core logging. Responsibilities include:
- Perform underground geological mapping, stope inspections, muck and chip sampling.
- Log core and interpret geological features for ore control and planning.
- Collaborate with engineers and operations to meet production and development targets.
- Prepare reports and participate in geological reviews and special projects.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and industry best practices.
- Communicate geological findings to technical and operational teams.
- Carry out any other assigned duties related to underground geology.
Requirements
Applicants should meet the following qualifications for consideration:
- Bachelor of Science in Geology.
- Eligible for registration with the PGO as a Professional Geoscientist.
- 3-5 years of underground mining geology experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Office and geological software.
- Experience with Vulcan, Leapfrog, AcQuire, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Deswik preferred.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Physically fit to walk grades underground and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Valid driver's license; manual transmission capability an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with high professional standards.
