Medium Duty Mechanic - Suncor Base Plant - With Loa - Two Week Rotations

North American Construction Group (NACG) is hiring a Journeyperson Medium Duty Mechanic (Truck and Transport) for work at the Suncor site in Fort McMurray, AB. This position follows a structured 14-day on, 14-day off schedule, alternating between day and night shifts. While camp accommodations are not provided, a $15/hour Living Out Allowance is available. Bus transportation is provided from Fort McMurray to the site. Responsibilities include maintaining and repairing Western Star and Kenworth trucks, generators, light plants, heaters, and high-pressure wash systems. Successful candidates will join the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955.

Responsibilities

The Medium Duty Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing medium-duty trucks and related equipment.

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on Western Star and Kenworth trucks
  • Service and maintain generators, light plants, heaters, and high-pressure wash systems
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and inspections

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience in medium-duty truck maintenance and a Red Seal Journeyperson certification.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in medium-duty truck maintenance
  • Certified Red Seal Journeyperson Mechanic (Highway Trucks)
  • Experience with Western Star and Kenworth trucks (preferred)
  • Familiarity with generators, light plants, heaters, and high-pressure wash systems
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a recent Driver's Abstract
  • Valid CSO or BSO Certification (Energy Safety Canada)
  • Valid OHS Alberta Legislation, Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness, Silica Awareness, and Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness Certifications (Energy Safety Canada)
