Maintenance Technician - Cenovus Christina Lake - FIFO
Cenovus Energy is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support and maintain high-voltage electrical systems at its Christina Lake operation, with potential for placement at Foster Creek or Sunrise. This full-time rotational role includes 24/7 on-call responsibilities and requires technical leadership in maintaining power infrastructure vital to thermal oil sands operations. Fly-in/fly-out travel is provided from Calgary and Edmonton, with comfortable camp accommodations at each site. Technicians will perform electrical troubleshooting, ensure system reliability, and support emergency responses to maintain operational integrity.

The Maintenance Technician will lead electrical maintenance and support operations at a high-voltage oil sands site. Core responsibilities include:
- Provide 24/7 on-call support for system emergencies and operational upsets
- Repair, replace, and troubleshoot electrical equipment and systems
- Oversee substation switching and utility coordination
- Ensure safety and regulatory compliance at all times
- Communicate regularly with planners, operators, and contractors
- Deliver updates on work progress and schedules
Requirements
Candidates must meet the following qualifications for this safety-sensitive high-voltage maintenance role:
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Journeyman Power System Electrician (PSE) with 6+ years of experience
- Red Seal Journeyman Electrician with High Voltage experience
- Hands-on expertise with systems 69kV and above
- Experience with SEL, GE Multilin relays, and ION meters
- Skilled in substation operation, power generation, and MCCs
- Ability to maintain transformers, MVIs, and motor control systems
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and clean abstract
- Pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screening required
