The Skilled Labourer, Electrical supports electricians and electrical crews at a remote Nunavut mine site by handling materials, preparing work areas, and maintaining a safe, organized environment.
- Assist electricians by loading and unloading electrical materials such as wires, conduit, cables, trays, fixtures, tape, grommets, panels, fuses, ballasts, brackets, switches, relays, and circuit breakers.
- Prepare and maintain work areas by setting up ladders, laying out materials, installing safety barriers, and ensuring compliance with site safety standards.
- Support installation tasks by running and pulling electrical cables and positioning fixtures, brackets, and conduit as directed by electricians.
- Perform basic maintenance and housekeeping including cleaning tools and equipment, tightening bolts, replacing covers, and keeping work areas hazard-free.
- Provide logistical support by transporting tools and supplies between job sites and disposing of waste materials in line with environmental and safety guidelines.
- Follow all safety protocols by wearing required PPE, adhering to instructions, and completing simple logs or checklists as directed.
- Contribute to an orderly, efficient electrical construction environment in a remote mining camp setting.
Requirements
Candidates for the Skilled Labourer, Electrical role must bring physical stamina, remote camp experience, and the ability to safely support electrical crews in a northern mine environment.
- Minimum two (2) years of general labourer experience in a remote camp environment.
- Prior work experience at a mine site is preferred.
- Physical ability to safely perform all essential duties, including regularly lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to comprehend, read, write, and converse in functional English to support safe work and clear communication on site.
- Comfort working in a fly-in/fly-out rotation and remote northern climate.
- Demonstrated commitment to following instructions, safety procedures, and housekeeping standards.
