Burgundy Diamond Mines is hiring a Journeyperson Millwright for its Ekati Diamond Mine in Northwest Territories, Canada. This full-time role follows a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off schedule and involves providing mechanical services for surface and underground equipment. The successful candidate will install, maintain, and repair industrial machinery essential to mine production. Camp accommodations and flights from Calgary, Yellowknife, and northern locations are provided.

Responsibilities

The Journeyperson Millwright will be responsible for maintaining and repairing industrial equipment to support mining operations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Install, align, dismantle, and move industrial machinery such as pumps, conveyors, crushers, and screens.
  • Fabricate, overhaul, and modify equipment parts within scheduled timeframes.
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices, including cranes and jacks, during installation and repairs.
  • Conduct equipment inspections, diagnose issues, and perform troubleshooting.
  • Operate machine tools to fabricate parts required for maintenance and repairs.
  • Assemble machinery and equipment using hand and power tools.
  • Mentor employees, trainees, and tradespeople.
  • Ensure contractors meet quality, cost, and schedule targets.
  • Follow all safety protocols and Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with other trades in a team environment to maximize efficiency.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in maintaining industrial equipment and a strong understanding of mechanical systems. Requirements include:

  • Certified Red Seal/Interprovincial Journeyperson Millwright.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a mining or industrial environment.
  • Experience operating Manual Lathe, Milling Machine, and Radial Drill.
  • Certification in Vibration Analysis is an asset.
  • Experience in Reliability Centered Maintenance is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and basic computer literacy.
  • Ability to work in surface and underground environments, including confined spaces and heights.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
