Hydrocarbon Technician - Ekati Diamond Mine - Fly In/Out

Burgundy Diamond Mines is seeking a Hydrocarbons Technician II for its Ekati Diamond Mine in Northwest Territories, Canada. This role is responsible for managing the storage and distribution of fuels and lubricants across the site, including diesel fuel, jet fuel, bulk lubricants, and gasoline. The successful candidate will oversee fuel inventory, perform inspections, and maintain fuel distribution systems. Camp accommodations and flights from Calgary, Yellowknife, and northern locations are provided.

Responsibilities

The Hydrocarbons Technician II will oversee fuel and lubricant storage, distribution, and regulatory compliance. Key responsibilities include:

  • Promote and enforce safe work practices at all times.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of fuel facilities, tank farms, pumps, and pipelines.
  • Perform data entry and administrative tasks related to fuel management.
  • Operate and maintain all fuel and lubricant distribution systems.
  • Manage inventory levels and distribute fuel to various locations on-site as needed.
  • Refuel aircraft, including fixed-wing planes and helicopters.
  • Operate and maintain the computerized Fuel Management System.
  • Mentor employees and trainees.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety protocols and Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment to maintain efficiency and productivity.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in fuel management and distribution in a mining or industrial setting. Requirements include:

  • Experience in fuel delivery, fuel distribution, and fuel management.
  • Bulk lube and fuel truck experience.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues related to fuel systems.
  • Basic computer literacy with a willingness to learn new software.
  • Firm understanding of federal fuel regulations.
  • Class 1 driver's license is considered an asset.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and multitasking skills.
