Heavy Equipment Technician - Gahcho Kué Diamond Mine - 14 Days On / 14 Days Off - FIFO

De Beers Group is hiring a Heavy Equipment Technician for a two-year full-time fly-in/fly-out contract at Gahcho Kué Diamond Mine in the Northwest Territories. The position runs on a 14/14 rotation and offers full camp accommodations, including private rooms and recreational amenities. The successful candidate will perform preventive maintenance and major repairs on mobile, stationary, and auxiliary mining equipment. Responsibilities

The technician will handle repairs and maintenance of mining equipment to ensure optimal safety and productivity. Key duties include:

  • Completing job risk assessments and safe work plans before tasks.
  • Servicing and performing preventive maintenance on mobile equipment.
  • Inspecting equipment and identifying mechanical faults or failures.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical problems.
  • Rebuilding components and coordinating with manufacturers as needed.
  • Filing accurate and timely work order documentation.
  • Collaborating with supervisors and planners to schedule and execute tasks.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria for consideration:

  • Valid Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson Heavy Duty Technician Certification.
  • Minimum 12 months of surface mining experience with heavy earthmoving equipment.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada.
  • Experience with Komatsu equipment is an asset.
  • Proficient in hydraulics, electrical systems, and schematic interpretation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Safety-first attitude with proven commitment to health and environmental standards.
  • Experience in remote mine sites and multicultural work settings is an asset.
