De Beers Group of Companies is hiring Heavy Equipment Operators for the Gahcho Kué Mine Site in the Northwest Territories on a contract ending in April 2027, with the possibility of extension. This 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotational mining role supports mine operations by operating heavy mobile equipment to move ore and waste in the open pit mine, including haul trucks, dozers, wheel loaders, excavators, and shovels, while following strict safety and mine operating standards. Responsibilities
Heavy Equuipment Operators are resposible for safely handling heavy mobile equipmen and attachments to maximize the mine production of ore and waste in the mine pit. Responsibilities include:
- Operating heavy mining equipment including mine haul trucks, large track dozers, large wheel loaders, excavators, and shovels to move hard rock.
- Conducting pre-operational safety checks and inspections on mining equipment.
- Monitoring equipment performance and reporting issues according to mine operating procedures.
- Following all company and mine procedures, safety, and environmental protocols.
- Communicating clearly with supervisors and team via two-way radio.
Requirements
In order to qualify as a Heavy Equipment Operator, Candidates for this remote mine operations role must have strong heavy equipment operating experience in mining environments and be qualified on multiple large production machines.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- On-the-job training and experience, resulting in being qualified to qualified to operate at least three types of equipment.
- Excavators/Shovel (PC5500/2000/1250/390/210)
- Loaders (WA1200/900/600/500)
- Dozers/Rubber Tire Dozers
- Graders
- Haul Trucks (980/930/830)
- Minimum 3 years of mining industry experience at remote sites and/or in open pit mines.
- Able to work 12-hour shifts, day and night, on a rotational schedule.
- Must work well in a fast-paced, safety-driven, multicultural setting.

- This is not a training position; only candidates meeting the stated qualifications will be considered.
