Responsibilities
The Geotechnician will assist in core handling and geotechnical testing to support exploration and mining activities:
- Prepare drill core for logging: clean, rotate, catalog, and measure recovery
- Conduct RQD, magnetic susceptibility, and conductivity tests
- Cut core samples and assist with packaging and shipping
- Report all completed work to the Supervisor
- Support geological and geophysical programs while maintaining safety
- Participate in daily toolbox meetings and promote a strong safety culture
- Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment
Requirements
Applicants should have relevant technical knowledge and be comfortable working in a remote environment:
- Previous experience as a Geotechnician or in core cutting is required
- Remote camp or Arctic experience is an asset
- High school diploma required; post-secondary studies in geology or geotechnical fields an asset
- Physically able to lift 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and perform labor-intensive tasks
- WHMIS certification and/or First Aid Level 1 considered assets
