The General Manager will lead and oversee all facets of site operations and development:
- Lead mine-based departments, contractors, and specialists through Operations Managers and departmental leadership
- Manage Marine Laydown Area (MLA), Winter Ice Road, and Sealift operations, focusing on logistics and contractor performance
- Effectively allocate personnel, finances, and equipment to meet budgetary and production goals
- Ensure compliance with and promote the spirit of the Inuit Impact Benefits Agreement (IIBA)
- Collaborate with the COO to execute strategic plans that drive production efficiency and profitability
- Enforce a proactive safety culture and ensure regulatory and corporate compliance
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and ensure environmental compliance and stewardship
Requirements
Candidates should possess executive-level experience in mining operations and Arctic logistics:
- 20 years of progressive leadership in mining, with 5+ years managing remote FIFO operations
- Experience in marine shipping, ice road construction, and Arctic logistics
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred (Mining, Geology, Business, or Logistics)
- Relevant professional designation (e.g., P.Eng, P.Geo, PMP)
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and foster a performance-oriented culture
- Strong experience working with Indigenous agreements, particularly in northern Canada
